Only 3% of furniture shoppers can recall being able to find off-the-shelf furniture that perfectly fits the dimensions of their homes, leaving the majority forced to compromise. While bespoke furniture offers a tailored solution, the process is often fraught with poor user experience, lengthy, complex, and off-putting for many. Moreover, manual processes in traditional factories result in long lead times, making customised furniture inaccessible to most. Formaer tackles these issues by simplifying the journey with an intuitive platform, harnessing automation and local digital fabrication to make bespoke furniture more efficient, accessible, and competitive.

 

As architects, the founding team believe in creative problem solving to make spaces in which we live and work feel better by reducing inefficiency and bad design. We believe good design that is tailored and personalised is essential to make our spaces feel more enjoyable and inspire creativity. This is why we came up with a startup called Formaer and this is why we are passionate about the company that we are building. Our vision is for Formaer to become the ‘deliveroo of custom furniture’ to empower people to be more in control of the design of their own spaces. To do this, we will offer a decentralised customisable furniture design service through our premier platform by partnering with digital fabrication labs across the country and by also leveraging automation, machine learning algorithms and augmented reality in our 3D configurator.
